Jaguars Trade for Carlos Hyde
The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded a 5th round pick to the Cleveland Browns for RB Carlos Hyde. There are a lot of fantasy implications from this deal:
Nick Chubb: His stock goes way up as he is now an every-week RB2 as the starting RB for the Browns. He is the biggest beneficiary from this deal and is a Must-Add in all leagues.
Carlos Hyde: If Fournette doesn't return right away, Hyde will be an RB2 in his absence. However his value takes a hit as soon as Fournette comes back as they will almost certainly split carries. Hyde remains an RB2 for the time being, but I doubt he will suit up this week with only 2 days to learn the playbook. And, once Fournette returns, Hyde will become a low-end RB2 or flex play.
Leonard Fournette: This is not a good sign for the Jaguars stud RB. The Jaguars clearly think his injury is of greater concern than initially thought or this is just them recognizing that Fournette cannot stay healthy. Either way his value takes a hit because he is now going to split carries with Hyde. Fournette will be an RB2 when he returns.
TJ Yeldon: This really hurts the value of Yeldon. He will most likely be making his last start of the season before becoming a role player in the Jaguars offense. He will be 3rd in line for carries when they are at full strength and will be regulated to passing down work when Hyde and Fournette are both healthy. After this weekend, Yeldon is merely a bench stash.
Duke Johnson Jr.: He becomes more valuable as his touches are certainly going to increase with the backfield going from 3 guys down to 2. He remains the receiving back however, so not a huge increase. He is a flex-play in PPR leagues.
