Jerick McKinnon Injured in Practice
UPDATE: McKinnon had his MRI on Sunday and it revealed just a muscle strain. He may miss extended practice time in the pre-season, but is likely to be ready for Week 1.
Another day, another starting RB goes down injured. Jerick McKinnon (RB14, being drafted 22nd overall in fantasy drafts) hurt his knee in practice with the 49ers on Sunday. He was helped off the field by trainers, but did remain on the sidelines for the remainder of practice and signed autographs for fans afterwards. He has an MRI scheduled to see just how serious the right knee injury may be.
Keep an eye on how this develops as it could have major ramifications for the 49ers offense as well as upcoming fantasy drafts. The 49ers backup running back, Matt Breida, is already expected to miss all of training camp with a shoulder injury. Look for journeyman Raheem Mostert and 2nd year running back, Joe Williams (a 4th round pick in 2017), to split first team reps while McKinnon and Breida are side-lined.
