Week 3 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Express - ALL ABOARD!!!

ALL ABOAARDDDDD!!!! The Waiver Wire Express is leaving the station. Next Stop: Week 3. This weekly column will tell you all about players I am adding off the waiver wire as well as suggested FAAB amounts and if I would use a top waiver claim on them (the 1st waiver claim spot is like a rare diamond that should be cherished and treated with gentle care). You need to take care of it by sacrificing sleep on Wednesday mornings by waking up early to dig through the waiver wire scraps. I will also tell you which players I feel comfortable dropping at each position. Pay close attention to your league settings. If you have an injured player and have an IR slot – you’re much better off stashing them on IR as opposed to just dropping them. I try to include clips of each player's highlights from the previous week so I can put the proof right in this waiver wire pudding.

In general, recommended players will be 50% owned or less in Yahoo leagues (some players may be just over).

Top Adds for Week 2:

1. Ryan Fitzpatrick

2. Andy Dalton

Running Backs (If these guys are still available I’d add in this order: Philip Lindsay (69% owned), Matt Breida (62% owned), James White (63% owned))

1. Giovani Bernard

2. Austin Ekeler

3. Buck Allen

4. Corey Clement

Wide Receivers (If these guys are still available I’d add in this order: Kenny Golladay (62% owned), Quincy Enunwa (61% owned), Tyler Lockett (68% owned), Mike Williams (60% owned))

1. DeSean Jackson

2. John Brown

3. Keelan Cole

4. Tyler Boyd

5. Geronimo Allison

6. Chris Godwin

7. Antonio Callaway

8. Ted Ginn Jr.

Tight Ends (If these guys are still available I’d add in this order: O.J. Howard (68% owned), Eric Ebron (55% owned))

1. Jesse James

1. Dan Bailey

2. Brandon McManus

3. Randy Bullock

1. Cleveland

2. Seattle

- Dak Prescott – DAL (52% owned): What are you waiting for? He’s averaging 165 yards per game and has 1 touchdown that was pretty fluky from Tavon Austin. They blew it not getting Josh Gordon because help is not on the way. Prescott is a streaming match-up play only.

- Marcus Mariota – TEN (47% owned): He’s banged up and the Titans are headed to Jacksonville. Vrabel says his status has not changed, which means his elbow is still bothering him. I’m not a doctor, but I’m assuming an elbow injury isn’t a great injury for a quarterback to have. Drop.

1. Ryan Fitzpatrick – TB (23% owned): I don’t think there’s a player having more fun in the entire NFL right now than Ryan Fitzpatrick. Dude is having a blast out there and he looked like a 70’s pimp in the post-game wearing all of D-Jax’s jewelry. Fitzpatrick has let us down before, but he’s standing in the pocket and delivering strikes downfield to 3-4 solid receiving options. 800 yards and 8 TD’s in the first 2 games. Add this man and ride the wave. He’s the #1 QB in Fantasy and he’s got a Steelers defense coming to town that just let up 6 passing touchdowns to Patrick Mahomes. Upcoming Schedule: PIT, @CHI, BYE, @ATL FAAB Bid: $10-12

2. Andy Dalton – CIN (27% owned): The Red Rifle has been on fire in the first two weeks throwing for over 500 yards and 6 TD’s. Now Joe Mixon is out and this offense is going to have to lean on the pass game. Tyler Boyd is emerging as a playmaker and Giovani Bernard is sure to catch a good amount of balls out of the backfield in Mixon’s absence. If you need QB help in a deep league, Dalton could be your guy – and it should be somewhat inexpensive to get him.

Upcoming Schedule: @CAR, @ATL, MIA, PIT FAAB Bid: $2-4

- Duke Johnson Jr. – CLE (60% owned): I could see giving him another week with the departure of Josh Gordon, but he’s just not involved in the offense right now. It’s all Carlos Hyde. Johnson has just 8 carries and 3 catches over 2 games. I wouldn’t drop him for the sake of dropping him, but if you need to spot there’s no reason to hang on here.

- C.J. Anderson – CAR (39% owned): 10 carries over the first two weeks to go with 0 catches. Cam Newton and McCaffrey take all the goal-line work and McCaffrey gets all the receiving work. He’s a decent handcuff if you own McCaffrey, but otherwise he doesn’t have any standalone value. Cya Dink.

1. Giovani Bernard – CIN (28% owned): With Joe Mixon expected to be out the next 2-4 weeks after knee surgery, it is next man up in Cincinnati with Giovani Bernard. He’s going to get the majority of work in this backfield which makes him a valuable asset in fantasy. There was a period last season where he got double digit touches in all of the Bengals last 5 games. He averaged 101.4 total yards per game, 4.74 YPC and caught 24 passes. He’s definitely on the RB2/Flex radar for the foreseeable future.

Upcoming Schedule: @CAR, @ATL, MIA, PIT FAAB Bid: $30-35

2. Austin Ekeler – LAC (44% owned): He was featured on the Waiver Wire Express last week and those who added him and used him in the flex were rewarded with double-digit fantasy points. He had 11 carries (to Melvin Gordon’s 9; not expecting this to become a trend) and caught 3 passes for 21 yards. He is especially important to add if you at the Melvin Gordon owner, but Ekeler has carved himself out a role in this Chargers offense even with a healthy Gordon. He is on the flex radar (especially in PPR leagues) until further notice.

Upcoming Schedule: @LAR, SF, OAK, @CLE FAAB Bid: $10-12 (Gordon owners $12-14)

3. Buck Allen – BAL (8% owned): He is getting the goal-line work in Baltimore and catching a lot of balls out of the backfield. Kenneth Dixon is on IR (eligible to return Week 11), but until then Buck Allen is going to be very involved in the Ravens offense and is going to be absolutely infuriating for Alex Collins owners. He has sneaky value. Make the add and treat him as an RB3/Flex. If Collins were to go down, he’d be a solid RB2.

Upcoming Schedule: DEN, @PIT, @CLE, @TEN FAAB Bid: $10-12 (Collins owners $12-14)

4. Corey Clement – PHI (22% owned): As you know, Doug Pederson loves rotating backs in and out of the Philadelphia offense. Darren Sproles missed Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury and Clement took full advantage. He caught 5 passes on 6 targets for 55 yards. He also added 6 carries for 30 yards and a touchdown with Jay Ajayi banged up. He certainly appears to be the handcuff to own for Ajayi owners and appears to have some value moving forward as part of this committee, especially if Sproles needs to miss another game or two.

Upcoming Schedule: IND, @TEN, MIN, @NYG FAAB Bid: $6-8 (Ajayi Owners $8-10)

- DeVante Parker – MIA (35% owned): He practiced fully at the end of last week, but still didn’t suit up on Sunday. He wasn’t happy about it either. It’s unlikely he has a stable role if and when he does suit up.

- Rishard Matthews – TEN (34% owned): 2 catches for 8 yards in 2 games and an injured Mariota spells disaster for Matthews. He was hurt all of camp and isn’t producing.

1. DeSean Jackson – TB (50% owned): He’s the #3 receiver in all of fantasy so far. He’s not going to keep this up all season and he’s more than likely going to get banged up at some point, but he clearly has a great rapport with Fitzpatrick on and off the field. He’s worth starting in fantasy lineups while he’s putting up this kind of production.

Upcoming Schedule: PIT, @CHI, BYE, @ATL FAAB Bid: $15-20

2. John Brown – BAL (25% owned): Touchdowns in back to back weeks. Clearly a favorite target of Flacco in the red-zone. Brown’s stock is on the rise after being targeted 10 times on Thursday.

Upcoming Schedule: DEN, @PIT, @CLE, @TEN FAAB Bid: $14-18

3. Keelan Cole – JAC (49% owned): 10 catches for 170 yards in the first two weeks. He’s the best receiver in Jacksonville post Marqise Lee. He had a huge game against the Patriots – let’s see if he can keep up the momentum.

Upcoming Schedule: TEN, NYJ, @KC, @DAL

FAAB Bid: $10-12

4. Tyler Boyd – CIN (2% owned): He has emerged as the #2 WR in Cincinnati and looked great on Thursday securing 6 catches on 9 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown. Cincy will be throwing more often with Joe Mixon out and Boyd will be a huge beneficiary of this.

Upcoming Schedule: @CAR, @ATL, MIA, PIT

FAAB Bid: $10-12

5. Geronimo Allison – GB (31% owned): Another solid game as the 3rd WR in Green Bay. He figures to stay involved as long as Rodgers can stay on the field. He has 6+ targets and 60+ yards in both games so far. He even blocks punts!

Upcoming Schedule: @WAS, BUF, @DET, SF

FAAB Bid: $8-10

6. Chris Godwin – TB (35% owned): Another guy benefitting from the early success of Ryan Fitzpatrick. He’s the 3rd WR in Tampa Bay but he’s still getting plenty of work. He has 8 catches and 2 TD’s so far.

Upcoming Schedule: PIT, @CHI, BYE, @ATL FAAB Bid: $6-8

7. Antonio Callaway – CLE (7% owned): He’s going to be playing a ton this season with the Browns shipping off Josh Gordon. He made an incredible catch and score late in the game on Sunday and is a good speculative add.

Upcoming Schedule: NYJ, @OAK, BAL, LAC

FAAB Bid: $2-4

8. Ted Ginn Jr. – NO(41% owned): 13 targets through 2 weeks on the Saints offense that should score plenty of points

Upcoming Schedule: @ATL, @NYG, WAS, BYE

FAAB Bid: $2-4

- Greg Olsen – CAR (49% owned): IR him if you can, but the chances of him coming back and offering elite production are slim.

1. Jesse James – PIT (10% owned): There’s not much out there at tight end. James has managed to put up 198 yards and 1 TD in the first two weeks and with Big Ben throwing the ball as much as he is (60 times on Sunday), Jesse James figures to have some big weeks.

Upcoming Schedule: @TB, BAL, ATL, @CIN

FAAB Bid: $0-1

1. Dan Bailey – MIN( 9% owned): One of the best kickers in NFL history is back in the game with the Vikings.

Upcoming Schedule: BUF, @LAR, @PHI, ARI

FAAB Bid: $1-2

2. Brandon McManus – DEN (45% owned): 4/4 on field goals with 2 over 50.

Upcoming Schedule: @BAL, KC, @NYJ, LAR

FAAB Bid: $0-1

3. Randy Bullock – CIN (1% owned): 4/4 on field goals and is 3rd in kicker scoring.

Upcoming Schedule: @CAR, @ATL, MIA, PIT

FAAB Bid: $0

1. CLEVELAND (7% owned): They are much improved this year and are facing a rookie QB on Thursday Night Football. They’ve impressed with 7 sacks, 3 INT’s and 5 recovered fumbles in the first two weeks and should not need any motivation after losing a heartbreaker in New Orleans.

Upcoming Schedule: NYJ, @OAK, BAL, LAC

FAAB Bid: $1-2

2. SEATTLE (16% owned): The struggling Cowboys will be travelling to Seattle. It’s not the defense it was a few years ago but it should be able to keep the Cowboys in check. Seattle had multiple interceptions in their first two games this season.

RECOMMENDED FOR DEEP LEAGUES: QB Derek Carr, QB Blake Bortles, QB Joe Flacco, RB Nyhiem Hines, RB Theo Riddick, RB Jordan Wilkins, RB Chris Ivory, WR Dede Westbrook, WR Calvin Ridley, WR Dante Pettis, WR Brandon Marshall, TE Jake Butt, TE Austin Hooper, TE Ben Watson.
